ARTIST'S STATEMENT
ELIZABETH HOARD PHOTOGRAPHY
I come from a long line of artists and creatives; a fact I have always been proud of
As a little girl, I spent hours weekly in my grandmother's studio surrounded by her mannequins, pastels & oils; she was a professional painter whose portraits were shown at Memphis Brooks Museum & for her couturier creations "Ageri" she was chosen by The Commercial Appeal Fashion Department as one of top ten designers in Memphis.
I saw the world through her eyes & it was beautiful.
As a little girl, with both of my parents holding degrees in Architecture and my father practicing at a firm in Alexandria, VA, I was surrounded by drafting boards filled with leading lines governed by whimsy & intrigue.

Soon after the birth of my first child I picked up a camera & quickly realized that wedding photography was my mannequin, my paint brush, my drafting board. I had found my artistic medium & with my Bachelor's in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing degree, I opened up my business in the fall of 2013.
Being in business for ten years does something to your soul. It can be a defining moment- to continue with what works well & stay the same or to light a fire in your soul to push the limits on what you can do even further.
I am choosing the latter.

"Elizabeth could not have made the process easier or more fun but my favorite thing about taking photos with her was that it felt natural. I am the groom that doesn't want to take lots of photos. I hate posing for, I don't consider myself photogenic, and I don't often find myself taking photos of myself or with friends. Needless to say, I was not looking forward to standing around taking engagement / wedding photos. But I really appreciated how Elizabeth just hung out with us and had fun with us. She wasn't in a rush like many wedding related appointments. We cracked jokes, told stories, played some verbal games, and she just happened to capture it with a camera and give subtle feedback to setup great shots. For me, I love looking at the photos and seeing a genuine smile instead of just being told "smile". I highly recommend her and she was one of the best decisions we made with our wedding." - Joseph
